The Knights Templar

The Brotherhood
for them there was knightly honor, cult like vows, conspiracy, mysteries and death; all else meant little consequence. A lost world, arching around the hidden righteousness of a few,
and with the death of many, they somehow managed to grow in numbers and in popularity. The religious order, the Knights Templar, for nearly two centuries ruled not only trade routes into and out of the holy lands, but also much of Christian Europe at that time. That is, until the warrior monk's nefarious demise by the French Crown in 1312, now believed to be instigated by greed.
Knights of Malta, St. John, Hospitallers
were
sanctioned in Jerusalem a decade before the treasure seeking Templars. The Knights of St. john were the patriarch religious Order to the Knights Templar.
The two monastic Knighthoods lived and died under the same holy vows, but had slightly different missions.

Knights Templar
name came from their proximity to King
Solomon's Temple. Stationing themselves at the base of the Temple,
they had access to the hidden subterranean caves that riddled the ancient
foundations of the temple. Given the Ark of the Covenant was said to have been hidden at one time in the foundation of the Temple, we can only guess what eight men did in the dimly lit caves underneath Jerusalem.
Templars Rise to Fame
was no mistake and undeniably one of the greatest achievements in
knighthood history. Remember, they humbly started in the mount caves of
King Solomon's ruined temple, as a small group of eight or nine men for the
first ten years.
But what were they after? What did they find? What could have
transformed them so completely, and so powerfully, into the most feared
cult of men?
